It's sort of surreal walking in the desert and finding a bunch of logs lying around (*they're quartz now, but they still look like logs*). 225 million years ago the region used to be a tropical rain forest in the same latitude and longitude as present-day Costa Rica. So that's pretty neat. And petrified wood is super dense. I learned that too.
