In my happy place. I feel most alive post work out, post yoga, post being in my body. Lengthening my limbs and lubricating my joints with movement, strengthening my muscles with weight, resistance and long holds. Challenging my body and brain to work better, harder, faster, stronger.. yes, my happy place π

Scheduling time to relax is an integral part of living well. Sometimes we overload our schedules with work, others, fitness, scheduling that we donβt schedule time to relax and just breathe. When we are able to have this scheduled time it allows the mental space of recalibration.

Spine strengthening, chest opener and my favorite way to wake up! Start with rooting down through your feet, lifting up through your sternum to find a natural release of your shoulders and back. When you feel stable begin to reach back and press your hips forwardπ

Eagle pose, or Garudasana in sanskrit, is both a posture of balance and strength, leading to a twist. It feels as if you are wringing out your body like a wet cloth!! The full body constriction promotes rejuvenated circulatory flow, supports the connection of muscle to bone and rids the body of toxins. Excellent way to start the day β€οΈ

Virabhadrasana III
Warrior pose or Virabhadrasana, is a foundational posture of your yoga practice. In this 3rd level variation, you transition from standing warrior to a floating stance, finding the eb and flow between balance and strength. This posture uniquely is an introductory position to teach your body how to use your bandhas or internal locks. When mastered oneβs movement becomes fluid in stability and lightness, moving through the postures as a meditation.

Happy Thanksgiving ππ¦ im thankful for every one of you! I wanted to share a little fun fact about yoga!
Ganda Bherundasana
Did you know all yoga postures are rooted in Hindu mythology? Ganda Bherundasana or Chin Stand is a story of a 2 headed bird that is believed to possess magical powers. In this position, your body depicts its powers and strength. I like to bring my mind back to these stories while in the posture as it gives me a bigger sense of purpose in my practice. We too all possess magical powersΒ

Happy Sunday π hereβs s lil posture strengthening yoga pose!
Vasisthasana
Where strength leads to balance, Vasisthasana Side Plank Pose. It is no easy feat to balance on the edge of one foot but when you find that place of stillness, it is rewarding. This posture, beyond the benefits for the body, strengthens the mind in refining determination. If you can find balance in Vasisthasana, think about translating the experience to find balance in your daily life.

Urdvha Dhaurasana
I always say a backbend is better than a cup of coffee! Inverting your spine sends adrenaline through your body, opening the front line and chest cavity as well as igniting the focused mind. Start where you are and utilizing your breath, move deeper through the posture. It took me a while to get deep into my own backbend, but I enjoyed every step of the journey.
Stay tuned for my OFTV talking you through a proper backbend!

Forest Bathing πβ°
Forest Bathing or Shinrin-Yoku, is the act of immersing oneself in our natures atmosphere. Originated in Japanese culture, forest bathing is done by detaching from modern conveniences of society (phone and camera) and tuning oneβs senses into the present surrounding; the light of the sun coming through the leaves, the sound of the the wind rusting the branches, the smell of the fresh foliage, array of contrast and colors in flowers. This savoring of the forest is recommenced to be done for 2 hrs. Think about this on your next hike, setting your intention and grounding yourself into the ubiquitous connection of ourselves and Mother Earth.
Benefits include reducing stress and anxiety, boosting immunity, improving quality of sleep, increasing attention and nurturing creativity.

Upavistha Konasana or wide legged forward bend, creates an in-depth stretch along the entire UB channel (Urinary Bladder). Creating slight rotation with the pelvis, this posture is best for stretching through the achilles ankle to the glutes, all the way through the low back and paraspinal muscles. Our pelvic cavity is also known to house traumatic memories and emotions, when held for long periods of time this posture can evoke an emotional response. One of favorites when I rest and reset.
